About Me
Hello! I'm Dave Weber from Denver, Colorado. This
is an introduction to me and my minor league baseball singles business. I am a retired wildlife biologist – formerly
with the Colorado Division of Wildlife.
I'm 64 years old and have been collecting cards since 1970. I grew up in Maryland as a Washington Senators fan and
switched to the Minnesota Twins when the Senators left to become the Texas Rangers. My favorite players are Tony Oliva, Harmon Killebrew, and Kirby Puckett. I collect cards (any sport) of players who attended Colorado State University, my alma mater. In 1992 I
traded for several thousand minor league cards.
Being frustrated in paying up to $30 for a minor league team set just to
obtain one card of a Colorado State player, it occurred to me that there might
be a market for minor league team set singles among college, state, and autograph
collectors and people with other collecting projects.
I
started a small business, began to advertise and somewhat to my
surprise, actually started to sell some minor league cards. I got
serious about improving my inventory and have since obtained
hundreds of thousands of additional minor league team set cards. I now have cards from almost 6,500 different team
sets, from 1972 to the present. To my knowledge I am the only person in the
country with an extensive inventory of minor league team set singles. I also carry some older minor league cards
from wax packs, but do not emphasize these and have none after 1996. I added on a few oddball major league sets when I realized that no one was providing singles from them.
It's still a small
business as there aren't thousands of people out there collecting minor
league cards, but it keeps me busy, brings in a little money, and I
enjoy working with serious collectors - a nice bunch of people all in
all. If you run across any cards of Colorado State U. athletes -
keep me in mind!
