ORDERING
Ordering:
The ordering process is pretty simple - if you know exactly what
cards you want, just send me a list of them. I'll typically send those I
have and bill you. When sending the order, let me know if you want duplicates of any cards - I'll often have them.
If you don't have a specific list of the cards needed, but can place an order like these, fine:
Examples:
Send me one of each different card of John Doe, or
Send me any two different cards of John Doe, or
Send me any two cards of John Doe, dups OK, or
Send me five different cards of John Doe, earliest you have
You get the idea
Examples of orders that are not clear:
Send me everything you have on John Doe. Problem: Do you mean including all dups?
Send two cards of John Doe. Problem: Are dups OK, or do you need different cards?
There
are many players with the same name, so if any of your players have
common names, please give me a little identifying info so I can be sure
to send cards of the correct player. Date of birth, hometown,
position and organization are all good.
If
you need to know what cards of the player exist before ordering, that's
where my data base comes in. Just send me the name(s) you are
interested in and I'll return a list of cards which exist for those
names. For example, here's a typical data base search result for a
couple current players:
yr
co team player
2005 TM CASPER FOWLER, DEXTER
2005 TM MIDWEST LG AS BRITO, JAVIER
2006 TM ASHEVILLE FOWLER, DEXTER
2006 TM LANCASTER JETHAWK BRITO, JAVIER
2006 TM SOUTH ATL LG PROS FOWLER, DEXTER
2006 TM WAIKIKI FOWLER, DEXTER
2007 TM MOBILE BAYBEARS BRITO, JAVIER
2007 TM MODESTO NUTS FOWLER, DEXTER
2008 TM TEXAS LG PROSP FOWLER, DEXTER
With the list in hand, you can
let me know which or how many cards you'd like me to search for.
Note that my data base shows cards that exist, it does not show
what cards I actually have in stock. Because cards of a player
are not stored together, it is very time-consuming to find, pull, and
re-file cards. Therefore, I cannot tell you in advance of an
order exactly which cards I have in stock. I'll search for those
you request and send those I have. You are free to request
alternates for those I don't have in stock. And - If
you want to limit your request, feel free to place an upper limit on how much
you want to spend. If you have
special needs such as requiring standard size cards, vertical format only, no multi-player cards, etc.
- please let me know when you order.
Free Cards! If I
come across damaged cards while filling your order I’ll send them along
for free if I know you can use them, so just say “extras appreciated” or
something like that to indicate you can use some freebies.
My autograph collectors can always use extra cards. For long time customers, I sometimes send along extra cards even if they aren't damaged.
Special
Requests: Customers
occasionally make special requests, such as asking me to seek out the “best
photo” of a player, a “head shot” photo, or a light colored card for
autographs. Because cards of a player
are not stored together, it is extremely time consuming to comply with
such requests for multiple players, but I will do the best I can if you are
just looking for one or two players.
My Data Base Available! I have developed an extensive computerized
data base of minor league team set cards from 1970 thru 2007. The data base also includes some minor league
wax pack singles, mainly those that I sell.
I will be happy to do a free search of your player list and send
you a listing of their cards. Customers
who have taken advantage of the data base often discover cards of their players
which they didn't know existed. Just send your list! In using the data base, it is important
that you spell the player’s names correctly and include any nicknames the
player might go by. Please report to me any errors or
omissions you detect in the info from my data base so I can correct them. As mentioned above, the data base listings are cards which exist
for your players, not cards I have in
stock. My data base has no way of telling players with the same
name apart, so your list will include all cards with the names you
provide.
Search Service: If the number of cards I don't
have from your want list is 5 or more, you may request that I keep your list on
file and send additional cards if I find them.
I will only do this if you request it, so please let me know.
I ask for a long-term committment to accept the cards if I find
them - at least a year, longer preferred.
How to Determine what Cards of Your
Players Exist:
My data base is the best source of this information for minor league team
set cards – just ask for a free search.
For minor league wax pack and major league cards, the Beckett Company
now has an on-line version of their alphabetical checklist which you can
subscribe to for a monthly fee (currently $4.99/mo). Check it out at beckett.com
Card Condition: Cards from 1984 and later will be in NrMt condition or better. If a card
is in less than Near Mint condition I will usually sent it at no charge. Cards from 1983 and earlier will be in Ex-Mt conditon or better. If a card is in
less than Ex-Mint condition I will either send it at a discount or free if the
condition is bad enough. Note that I
have never had a single card returned due to condition problems in the
history of my business. A tiny number of orders have been damaged
in shipment.
Cards from
perforated sets or sets I had to hand cut apart, I may charge full price for
less than NrMt cards. On very rare
occasions I may charge full price for lesser condition cards if they are from a
hard to find set. Other exceptions:
Over time I have realized that certain cards come out of the package
with consistent damage. That is, most or
all of the brand new cards are not NrMt.
I cannot afford to give these cards away since few exist which are
perfect. Therefore, I charge full price
for cards with the specific types of damage listed below. Note that you are free to specify that you don't
want damaged cards, but you may not receive the card you want, since
few if any NrMt ones may exist.
